Safari Itinerary: Gorilla Trekking Safari in Volcanoes National Park – 4 days

Day One: Arrival

Our Safari driver will meet you on arrival at Kanombe international airport and drive you to Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge / Mountain Gorilla view lodge / Muhabura hotel.

Day Two: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast report to the Ruhengeri park headquarters as early as 7:00 am. After a short drill as regards your expected gorilla tracking conduct is concerned, you will enter the rainforest in search of the mountain gorillas.

It is advisable to carry along with you a packed lunch, energy bite, mineral water on this expedition because sometimes tracking can last very long from 1-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.

On locating the gorillas, the experience is so exhilarating and will be well worth the trouble. Spend a maximum of one hour with the gorillas then return to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Mountain Gorilla view lodge/Muhabura hotel.

Day Three: Second gorilla trekking / Golden monkey tracking

After breakfast today go gorilla tracking this time visiting a different family (subject to payment of supplement at time of booking). Alternatively, you can visit the golden monkeys or drive to Lake Kivu, hike the Bisoke / Muhavura volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey’s grave, or visit the beautiful lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Mountain Gorilla view lodge / Muhabura hotel.

Day Four: Departure or Kigali city tour

After breakfast, we drive to Kigali and if time allows, we will have a city tour visiting the genocide memorial. After lunch, we will do a transfer to the airport to board your home flight.
